Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a mind/body approach to healing unresolved trauma, whether from the shock of a single event, long term stress, or childhood or relationship issues.
When any of these traumas occur, your body and nervous system register and remember the events. In your present day life, this can cause problems that you’re often not aware are stemming from the trauma.
Often, talk therapy alone cannot open the door to fully healing. In SE, we also work with bodily sensations, images, and emotions. In your session, you are guided to gently get in touch with the distress locked inside. By approaching the trauma in small pieces, you aren’t swept away all over again. This approach allows your entire system to discharge the trauma. SE is often successfully used as an adjunct to psychotherapy, to help restore a healthy balance.
You have the capability to heal, no matter how terrible the event, or how long ago it happened. SE helps you find the path to reclaiming your resiliency, and the fullness of your life.
